babyBEings Part 3 & 4
This class is for those who have completed babyBEings Part 1 & 2 and generally caters for babies from approx 8 to 16 months in age. It is held weekly on Wednesdays and Fran is assisted with these classes by Victoria Walsh, a parent who has attended babyBEings with all four of her daughters.
And then when they are ready each baby begins their amazing journey to become upright and eventually walking. During this period of the child's development we can get challenged by our aim to practise the concept, expressed by Pennie Brownlee, that :
"each baby's unique development is accepted and respected".
Now our babies really start following their innate drive to get moving and exploring!
Firstly they practise and perfect the 'along workout' in their own unique way, whether rolling, rocking, slithering, crawling etc their way along and around the floor.
Parents with older babies at babyBEings learn a lot about waiting before reacting, trusting their babies more and allowing them to work things out on their own without interfering too much. Even though both babies in this photo took objects from each other and one touched the others face and head, the parents and facilitators just observed and didn't feel any need to go in closer. Both babies were happy exploring the same objects and each other, so the adults decided to be too! They discussed afterwards how much this proved that babies can be trusted a great deal more than we give them credit for. Babies can teach adults valuable lessons when we let them.
